The 17th edition of Expomin 2023, the largest international mining exhibition and congress in Latin America, closed its doors with a positive number of visitors, according to the event’s organization.
For four days, Santiago de Chile’s Parque Fisa became the center of the global mining industry, with the presence of the highest authorities in the country, top executives from mining companies, and 1,270 exhibitors.
This year’s edition had an area of 250,000 square meters, the second-largest in the history of the exhibition after 2014.
The call for Expomin 2023 was very broad, reaching 58,052 visitors during the four days, contributing to both exhibitors and visitors for the development of the mining industry, which is essential to boost the Chilean economy and generate new jobs.
The International Congress had 14 seminars and more than 100 speakers, discussing the sector’s need for energy transition and combating climate change with such important minerals as lithium and copper.
The organization announced the future version of Expomin for the year 2025, inviting everyone to participate between March 24 and 27 of that year.
The organization reported that 8,180 foreign delegates attended the event, contributing to the national tourism industry, as Expomin 2023 managed to fill 52.6% of the hotel capacity in the city of Santiago, which has 15,550 hotel beds.
In addition, the fair allowed Chile to consolidate its leadership for foreign investment and highlight the technological and innovative solutions “made in Chile” that reinforce the commitment to sustainable mining.
The organization is working on logistical and transport challenges to continually improve future editions.
Expomin 2023 was undoubtedly one of the largest of all time, surpassing the figures of the 2018 and 2021 editions.
